Bernard Marx is a bad example of how someone should act in the World State. He thinks differently than the others do by believing there is something more in life, when in fact there is nothing better than being in our Brave New World. Bernard wants to be alone often, which goes against our society. Life is meant to be lived together and for each other. Bernard is never satisfied with our World State, when we have done everything we can to make life better for each of our citizens. Bernard is everything we stand against.
John the Savage is also a bad example of a member of the World State. John is what we consider a savage, and he comes from a savage reservation. He comes from a completely different side of our society. The way John acts and believes is completely different from the right way, which is what we believe. John does not enjoy the pleasures of many women, which is crazy. He thinks that we are an immoral people and he just cant understand that everyone belongs to everyone.
Lenina Crowne is a good example of how a person should be in the World State. Lenina does everything she is supposed to do, the right way. Lenina is always happy, and is very promiscuous with others. Lenina does not question the World State and understands that how we live is the best possible way to do. She doesn't like to be alone, and understands that we are all one and should not be alone.
Mustapha Mond is a good example of a world state citizen. He is a World Controller and has a lot of power. He reads books such as the bible, and he knows everything about the savages. Mustapha sets regulations and deals out punishment. He understands that everyone must do their job and obey for the World State to be successful. Mustapha is seen as an authority that must be obeyed.
Linda Crowne is neither a bad or good example of a World State citizen. She does not give herself into conditioning. Because of her ignorance, she starts to become a very undesirable member of society. She thinks that it is okay to connect personally with someone on a maternal level, which is ridiculous. Linda sleeps with many of the men in the Reservation, and the women unrightfully become jealous. Later in the novel, Linda starts to think that her promiscuity is bad, which is not true because everyone belongs to everyone else and should be able to enjoy them. In some parts of the book, she shows she is a good citizen because of her acceptance of soma.
Henry Foster is a good example of a World State citizen. Henry is a very conditioned upper class member of society. The only difference with Henry from the others is that he is aware enough to realize his conditioning, and is fine with it. Henry is a true great citizen and helper of society. He puts the interests of the World State first before his own. However Henry does have a fault in being in a relationship with Lenina for four months time, which must change so that he can become better and enjoy others.
